No man of this very common name has been found in association with Melcombe Regis or its burgesses. The Dorset electoral return for 1453 is now damaged and partially illegible, but one of the names of attestors may be read as John Wode.1 C219/16/2. Even if so, there is no way of ascertaining whether this was the MP of 11 years earlier.
